Good day everybody,

The Bible gives us a very clear picture of humanity as we see people’s lives played out across the pages of scripture. We are all made in God’s image and are capable of doing good things, but at the same time, there’s a bent that runs through every person. That bent has us pointed down a pathway of doing evil and unkind things. It’s hard to hear, but we are all morally fallen beings, no exceptions.

Romans 1:20–23 (ESV) — 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

Romans captures some of that moral fallness for us. It isn’t a pretty picture of where we’ve fallen to. But to see and grasp this bad news of human fallenness, really does set us up to appreciate the glorious good news of Jesus Christ. Jesus rescues and transforms by His grace.

Here’s where we land this weekend at Exchange Church.

  • ECY Friday @ 7:00pm at the church.
  • EC Sunday service @ 10:00am.
“Sunday lunch” this Sunday. Plan now to bring a plate to share and hang out for some great fellowship after the service.

This week we conclude our sermon series in Judges. We’ll be in Judges 19-21 “Total Depravity”.

Please read through Judges 19-21 to help direct our minds for Sunday’s sermon. Please be mindful as we read this scripture that it is quite graphic with rape and murder being carried out in it.

In Christ,
