Hello everybody,

Our Western culture is very much driven by a consumer mentality. In that I mean there’s a restlessness of discontent within our souls that we think can be filled or soothed if I just surround myself with more stuff. If I have just that one more thing (you fill in the blank here), then I’ll be satisfied and content. That’s not how we are created by God. God has created us to be content in Him.

Philippians 4:11–13 (ESV) — 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

The secret that Paul found is Jesus Christ. Jesus redeems us and sets us on a whole new mindset of the gospel. That mindset liberates us from the emptiness and despair of our broken lives and brings us into contented new life in Christ giving us all the meaning, purpose, love, and security that we’ll ever need.

Here’s where we land at Exchange Church this weekend:

  • ECY Friday @ 7:00pm at the church.
  • EC Sunday gathering @ 10:00am.
This week we have our church Sunday lunch. Please check your text messages for “what to bring” info.

We are moving into the closing stages of 1 Timothy. This week we are in 1 Timothy 6: 6-10, 17-19 “Contentment Grows Generosity”.

Please read through 1 Timothy 6 to prepare ourselves for God’s word.

In His joy,
