Good afternoon friends,
This weekend we celebrate Mother’s Day. This can bring mixed emotions for many people. Some of us have had beautiful godly mothers whilst others have experienced rejection and bitterness from their mothers. The vision of Motherhood from the Bible is a God-ordained role that is meant to radiate the gospel through nurturing, teaching, loving, disciplining, and caring for our children. Mary the mother of Jesus is a picture of God’s grace in Motherhood. Here’s what Mary has got to say when she discovers that she’s pregnant by a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:46–49 (ESV) — 46 And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; 49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
With humble submission before the Lord Mary sings with praise the greatness of God, also showing the confident trust that His grace will enable her to be the Mother He’s called her to be.
This weekend at Exchange Church:

This week as we thank the Lord for mothers, we’ll be in Luke 1:26-38, “Mothers Day”.
Please read through Luke 1:26-38 to set the scene as we trace out the experiences of Mary as a mother.
In Christ,
