Hello all,
Augustine of Hippo, the 5th-century theologian was once asked, “What are the principles of Christian life”? His answer in paraphrase was “Humility first, humility second, and humility third”. Christmas is a massive display of the humility of Jesus in becoming human flesh to die in our place to take away our sins.
Philippians 2:5–8 (ESV) — 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Jesus in absolute humility comes to dwell among us to ultimately reconcile us back to the God we’ve walked away from. The love of Christ motivated Him to take on the body of a man in grace-filled humility to rescue us. We because of Jesus, are now empowered to walk in humility before the Lord and receive His blessing in our lives.
